Hyperliquid builder fees explained
Updated 26 Oct 2026A builder fee is a small fee that an app, a bot or a trading front end adds to the trades it sends to Hyperliquid on your behalf. It is Hyperliquid's way of letting anyone build on its order book and get paid for it.
How it works
- You approve it first. Your main wallet signs an approval that names the app's builder address and the maximum fee it may charge. An agent or API wallet can't approve it for you.
- Hyperliquid caps it. At most 0.1% on perps and 1% on spot, on top of Hyperliquid's normal trading fee.
- You can revoke it at any time, and the app can then no longer charge it.
- It's charged per trade, only on trades that app sends. Trading on Hyperliquid's own site doesn't pay it.
Builder fee vs referral code
The two can apply together: an app can carry a builder fee while your wallet keeps its referral discount.
What to check before approving
- The maximum you are signing for, as a percentage, and what the app actually charges.
- The builder address, and that it belongs to the app you meant to use.
- That you're signing a fee approval, not a withdrawal or a token approval. A builder fee approval can't move funds.
On JoinEm
Stryx bots carry Stryx's own builder fee. When automatic copying launches on JoinEm, copied trades will carry a small JoinEm builder fee, shown before you approve it. Rankings, trader pages and Telegram alerts stay free. See Hyperliquid fees explained for the trading fees underneath.
