How to copy trade on Hyperliquid (and why most copies lose)

Updated 26 Oct 2026

Copy trading means opening and closing the same positions as another trader. On Hyperliquid every wallet is public, so anyone can see what a trader holds. The hard part isn't seeing the trades; it's choosing whom to copy, and copying in a way that doesn't lose to costs and delays.

Three ways to copy

  1. By hand. Follow a trader, get an alert when they move, and place the same trade yourself. Free, slow, and you decide every time.
  2. With a copy bot. A bot watches the trader and places your orders through an agent key, which can trade but can't withdraw. Faster and hands-off; the bot's rules decide your size and exits.
  3. With a strategy that picks for you. Instead of choosing one trader, a strategy picks several by fixed rules and joins their positions. Steady works this way.

What goes wrong when you copy a "top trader"

We tested this on Hyperliquid's own data. Of traders who were profitable over 90 days, about half were still profitable the next month: roughly a coin flip. Three reasons:

That's why JoinEm's rankings say "a record, not a forecast". They describe how a trader has done; how we rank shows the monthly check of whether the top half did better afterwards.

Copy automatically with JoinEm

Today you can follow any ranked trader and get their moves on Telegram, plus Steady's joins and exits. Automatic copying, of Steady or of any trader you follow, from your own account, is coming: press Copy automatically on a trader's page to join the waitlist with your wallet.

Copying can lose money. Past results don't predict future ones.
